Postdoctoral Researcher Opportunity
BHOLE Project
SUPERVISOR/HOST INSTITUTION: Jian-Min Wang (Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS)
PROJECT TITLE: Variabilities of Super-Eddington Accreting AGNs
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Radio-quiet active galactic nuclei are undergoing variations, but they are poorly understood so far. Reverberation mapping campaigns have yielded a plenty of high quality data of variabilities of AGNs spanning a wide range of accretion rates and black hole masses. This makes it possible to tackle the physical processes of the variations including anisotropy of radiation from accretion disks. Puzzles of AGN variations has been found to be similar to solar phenomena. Reverberation mapping data from Super-Eddington Accreting Massive Black Holes (SEAMBH) campaigns are available for this research.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS: the following experiences: 1) accretion physics/solar physics; 2) MHD physics
