Some applications of rotating MHD

In this talk I will discuss some of my recent work about rotating MHD. They are the effect of Earth's precession on geodynamo, helical-wave dynamo to understand turbulent dynamo action, oblique rotator problem to understand the uniform rotation of solar radiative zone, and nonliner and magnetic effects on dynamical tide.

Speaker Introduction:

Xing Wei is a faculty member at Institute of Natural Sciences (INS) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Xing studied BS and MS at Tsinghua University (mechanics, 98-04) and PhD at Cambridge University (fluid mechanics, 04-08). Before joining INS SJTU in 2015 he worked at ETH Zurich (geophysics, 09-11), Gottingen University (geophysics, 11-13) and Princeton University (astrophysics, 13-15).
